In our frequent conversations with shippers and logistics service providers (LSPs) and their customers we often hear “where’s my stuff?” This may be one of the most critical questions as more organizations work toward driving great efficiency around their freight movements, while striving to reduce inventory and save on storage costs. Yet according to Geodis’ 2017 Supply Chain Worldwide Survey, only 6 percent of companies believe they have achieved full supply chain visibility. And, 77 percent say they have either no visibility or a restricted view.
In a recent episode of Talking Logistics, Karen Sage, MercuryGate CMO, and Adrian Gonzalez, President at Adelante, discussed some of the unique challenges that shippers and LSPs address on a day-to-day basis as they move freight in an increasingly global and digitized environment.
Topics discussed included:
- How can LSP agents efficiently communicate with their clients about the latest shipment activity?
- How can operations managers keep their distribution centers, stores, and suppliers informed on what is happening with a specific load or set of loads?
- What is the role of technology in helping shippers and LSPs achieve true visibility into their freight movements?
- How can collaboration and visibility help businesses achieve higher levels of customer service?
