CARY, N.C., August 01, 2015 – MercuryGate® International, Inc., the industry-leading provider of transportation management software, today announced an integration partnership with Norfolk Southern Railroad whereby TMS clients gain easy access to Modal-X, a portal for spot purchasing of door to door intermodal service, across the Norfolk Southern network.
Norfolk Southern’s Thoroughbred Direct intermodal service offers a comprehensive spectrum of supply chain services to tackle complex distribution challenges. 3PLs and freight brokers benefit from easy access to the door to door intermodal services from within their transportation management system (TMS). The integration enables MercuryGate customers to quickly see rates, book capacity and tender shipments. Customers will benefit from the service which enables end to end management of multi leg shipments, all the way till end delivery with real time tack and trace capabilities.

Access to Modal-X for spot buying is available now to all MercuryGate clients who provide 3PL and freight brokerage services. Once contracted with Norfolk Southern for access to Thoroughbred Intermodal service, rates and capacity are made visible through the load rating screen within the TMS and can be booked directly from within the application. MercuryGate will be demonstrating the TMS with integrated Modal-X at this year’s IANA Intermodal Expo in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida on September 20th to 22nd.
Besides easy access to rates and booking services, integrated Modal-X clients receive ability to book same day pickup and also have access to competitive “Book Now” pricing. Clients can tender loads electronically and monitor shipments with real time status tracking and on time statistics.
